Paperman Or Signs?

Filed in project(s): Storytelling
Paperman

Disney has created a short story animation that’s just beautifully executed.

But haven’t we seen this particular story before?

Paperman is 2D plastered on top of 3D and I just love how it looks, especially how they use shadows and light to create depth.

And then of course the red colour on her lips and her kiss mark.

Beautiful.

And how to make an animated girl cute? Well, you simply make her eyes freakishly big!

(Is there a limit ratio for when the eyes gets so big the animated cuteness turns… like, psycho?)

Anyway, Disney did get an Oscar for it, best animated short story.

But is it just me, or isn’t the actual story a little too similar to the popular short story Signs which went viral a couple of years ago?

You decide.

Paperman on Youtube.

Signs on Youtube.

Which one do you like best?
